| Back to the main gallery My life: This sculpture was something I started around the time of “Canyon falls”. I wasn’t going to complete it but a friend convinced me to. The imagery represents male and female genitals in pink and blue and an abstract womb in the center. In the upper right hand corner is block of wood cracked in half with nails coming from it. On the upper side of this block (not shown) is the words burned MY LIFE. This piece is meant to symbolise the pain a person goes through when they are born gay and just don’t know quite how to fit into gay or straight society. This is a struggle that many gays and lesbians go through when they feel they don’t fit into the average gay or lesbian stereotype and being surrounded in the straight world. For many it can be a painful and isolating experience. Thankfully I feel I have found my place among artists from the straight and gay community Blair 05 Plaster wood nails and acrylic paint. |
